Throwback Shindig with The Company on December 1

Groove back to the decades of golden music of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s in a concert driven by nostalgia and one that will tickle the funny bones. See the Philippines’ premier vocal ensemble on stage with a class act comedian in “Throwback with The Company and Jon Santos” on December 1, 2018 at The Theatre at Solaire.

Starting out as an out-of-college regroup, The Company has evolved in their 3 decades in the music industry. From singing the traditional genres, they decided to move to acapella and vocal jazz as a new challenge to themselves and for the novelty of the pieces. Living to its namesake, The Company reinvented their identities while maintaining the bond that they have developed in the years prior their success. The release of their singles “Everlasting Love”, “Muntik na Kitang Minahal” and the popular love song “Now That I Have You” which is often used as movie theme songs, or in wedding halls, have seemingly immortalized their names. The original members apart from Moy Ortiz, have moved on to pursue the next chapters of their lives but not without passing on the torch to their successors who have kept their legacy alive and very much felt today.

A stark contrast to the steady melody of songs comes Jon Santos, a powerhouse comedian famous for his impersonations that imprint themselves into the mind. His satirical impressions of the country’s most prominent political personas are complemented by his quick wit, allowing such a seemingly hilarious number to become the controversial stirrer of important conversations. He has transformed himself to the likes of Former President Joseph Estrada, Sen. Miriam Santiago (+), and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos who he admits, is his favorite. Although he became known for his comedic prowess, Jon was able to establish his credibility as a theatre performer who can add more spunk to any character he portrays. He has performed as lead in “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”, and more recently, “Rak of Aegis”.

The Theatre at Solaire’s advocacy of bringing Original Pilipino Music (OPM) under the limelight means offering acts that the audience demands, but also presents ingenious collaborations. “This unexpected tandem will highlight another layer of OPM that goes beyond the tunes, lyrics and voices. The Company and Jon Santos together on one stage merges what the Filipinos love most – good music and witty comedy. You will witness a new wave of theatrics that’s as exciting but with more spontaneity and humorous reality jabs.” says Audie Gemora, Solaire’s Director for Entertainment.

With The Company’s vocals injected with Jon’s brand of comedy, expect a night filled with throwbacks with the best “retro” beats that will make you dance, laugh and remember the heydays of the past,

He haven't done any music in 10 years and in that 10 years he studied producing music. Right now, he is close to finishing his master degrees in music.

“I wanted you guys to know that I'm the real deal, okay? I grew up in this industry at six years old and next month I'm gonna be thirty one years old. So, there was a lot of ups and downs you know that molded me into the man that I am today and if it wasn't for you guys believing in me when no one else did. Why? Why would I do it? Why would I do it? I did it because I wanted to impress you. I wanted you to know that I am a real deal. I'm also an artist. A real one. I don't need anybody else to make my music for me. I don't need anybody else to write my songs for me. I can do it myself. And that's exactly what you are hearing right now. This real music. I did this myself okay? when everybody did not believe in me, okay? So, I released this song on my own, on my own record label called Rakkaus Records, okay? Rakkaus Records is mine. I released the song 'Fools Gold' and then you know what happened? In an hour, it had a million streams and every single record label that told me 'no' called me and said 'will you please sign a deal with us?' 'would you please?' and I said 'no, thank you. click”, 'no, thank you, click'. Oh you! No, you turned your back on me 'click' and then Sony Records calls me and I say 'yeah, sure. I'll do the deal'. So, I got signed to a major record label after every label told me I was done. Moral of the story is  NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF, okay? EVER! Alright? No matter taking me 10 years. A decade to do it. Then, I'm back! and that is all that matters." - Aaron Carter said.

Concluding the night, Aaron Carter gave us a glimpse of remixes from the new DJ E.P. that he will soon release.

David and Friends Promise a Heartwarming Christmas Concert in Manila

David Archuleta and friends promise a heartwarming Christmas concert for the benefit of Mabuhay Deseret patients which will be happening tomorrow night at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao.

With hopes of letting fans, and concert goers, become “bees” to sweeten life overall, Mabuhay Deseret started their own sweet ways of getting local funds to sustain their organization with the help of music— specifically the music of David Archuleta, JBK, Anton of Tawag ng Tanghalan and Mikee Misalucha.

During the press conference yesterday, David said that he had no doubts in doing the concert and to come back to the country. When asked about his favorite thing in the Philippines, the singer shared that it's meeting his fans and getting to see their hearts.

It can be recalled that David has been visiting the country every year, but what makes this year different is that he's bringing with him his new Christmas album.

On another note, guests or "friends" of David cannot wait to share the stage with one of their inspirations in the industry on Friday. Mikee shares that she has looked up to David since his first album came out and she also never thought of not doing the show when a representative from Mabuhay Deseret called her.

The said concert will be happening tomorrow night with limited tickets available. All proceeds will go to the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation to help unfortunate kids avail free surgeries to correct conditions such as cataracts, cleft lip, and clubfoot.

Expect a performance from David Archuleta and friends as they celebrate the foundation's 30th anniversary with the help of soulful Christmas music as well as plenty of surprises.

For tickets, call 911-5555 or visit Mabuhay Deseret's social media sites.

Dean Brings "Trouble" To Manila

Manila got a taste of Korean R&B and Hip Hop as Korean singer SAAY and Asia's R&B prince DEAN brought a lit set for their fans at the New Frontier Theater last night. Presented by MCA Music and TNT, the singers definitely showcased their angelic vocals while fans scream their hearts out.
SAAY, accompanied by a DJ, brought the right amount of sugar and spice as she performed her songs to open the show. This is the singer's first time in Manila and she was grateful to know that the audience knows her songs while prepping the audience for DEAN. She debuted a new song "Cold View", and performed her hits including her debut single "Circle".
Although disclosing before his set that he is currently sick, DEAN still delivered a great performance. He performed his own songs as well as songs he's featured in that are certified to be crowd favorites. In the middle of his set, his fans or "Rebels" all sang happy birthday to the singer as he was also celebrating his birthday in the country. The singer had the most pure reaction as fans saw him getting shy while hiding his face and then saying his gratitude for the impromptu act after.
Throughout the show, DEAN kept saying sorry because of his cold, he thought he wouldn't be able to deliver a performance his fans would like. He even posted an Instagram story photo wherein the singer said he was sorry and that he would come back later when his condition is better.
What made the night more hotter was when DEAN performed "Put My Hands On You", because the singer himself was feeling sexy on his own by doing body rolls. Alongside the song, he also performed "D (Half Moon)", "instagram", "love", "Bermuda Triangle", "I'm Not Sorry", "21", and more.
For an intimate venue, the Manila crowd definitely showed much love and much hype to the singer therefore making the theater have an ambiance that of an arena. DEAN definitely slayed and the loudness of his audience proved this. The concert lasted for less than 2 hours making every fan inside the venue want and crave for more. Putting DEAN's sickness aside, Rebels still had the time of their lives as it wasn't even noticeable the R&B singer was sick because of his angelic voice and charm.
