The 1975 just unveiled their latest track “Medicine”. The said single was specially written for Zane Lowe
rescoring the Ryan Gosling film “Drive” which was aired last October 30, 2014 on
BBC.
According to Matt Healy, the lead singer of The
1975, “Having the opportunity to rescore a movie of which we were already so
familiar with provided us with a sense of knowing and allowed us to be slightly
more introspective than we maybe would have been approaching something
unknown”.
I bet everyone here already heard “Medicine” and
fans have absolutely loved it for sure. The music is just cool, very relaxing
to listen. It has long instrumental which made the song chilled and
soothing. I really love the first line
of the lyrics “I find it hard to say bye-bye” and at the chorus part “In case
you’re my medicine, yeah, you’re my medicine”.
“The song is a testament to that same idea and
has in turn become one of our most personal and best loved pieces of music to
date”. – Matt Healy.
"I won't delve into what the song is about
lyrically because frankly I want to put those ideas to bed; but being provided
with the context in which Medicine came to be, it allowed the song to become a
mausoleum for those ideas, captured, diverted and frozen forever. Which is
pretty cool."
The “Medicine” was made and written by the band
in the scenes they chose to score. Having their signature picky guitars, the
sexiness of Matty’s voice, made the song sugary to our ears.
The rescore also include collection of exclusive
new tracks by Banks, Baauer, Jon Hopkins, SBTRKT, Bastille, Bring Me The
Horizon, CHVRCHES, Eric Prydz, Foals, Laura Mvula and The Neighbourhood.
