Alternative band Nothing But Thieves performs at Kia Theatre on January 21, 2018

English band Nothing But Thieves gained the respect from pillars of the modern rock community – among them Muse, who took them out as support band on their 2016 arena tour.

Nothing But Thieves consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Conor Mason, guitarist Joe Langridge-Brown, guitarist and keyboardist Dominic Craik, bassist Philip Blake, and drummer James Price. The alternative rock band’s music celebrates eclecticism and songcraft. “We weren't setting out to write something completely different, but I would say we experimented more, tried to push the boundaries, tried to capture something that pushed us outside of our comfort zone,” says guitarist Dom Kraik. “If a song made us feel a bit odd, that's good.” In fact, it’s that spirit that motivates them. “The mantra of the band is to not regurgitate any ideas,” says frontman Conor Mason.

Less of a consideration is whether their songs are arena-ready anthems, despite road testing their last collection while on tour with Muse. That, they say, will come naturally. “It shouldn’t be a conscious thing to write those kinds of songs. Sorry and Particles could be deemed big arena songs, but they could equally have been tiny and indie – we didn't set out to write them as massive tunes.”

Actually, say the band, they hope simply to keep growing as they have in those incredible two years since their debut. Their main goal is more noble. “We're a guitar band with a really modern take on music,” says Conor. “We're trying to be on the forefront. We play guitars, but we're not a rock band in the traditional way, because we're trying to modernise and push the boundaries of what you're supposed to sound like as a band.”

Nothing But Thieves will perform their well loved hits “If I Get High”, “Lover, Please Stay”, Amsterdam, “Sorry”, “Particles”, “Wake Up Call” and many more at the Kia Theater on January 21, 2018 produced by Ovation Productions. Tickets available through and regular Ticketnet outlets. Ticket prices are P5750, 3750, 1750 available starting November 3, 2017.

Gloc-9 celebrates 20 years in the biz, release new album Rotonda

Gloc-9 is not one to brag about his work because he believes that it should speak for itself. Yet there is no underestimating his 20 years in the music industry, especially since it is not just about being rapper and performer, but also about being a songwriter.

It also is about having struggled to get to this point where he has nothing to prove, and now realizing that he has in fact put in the work and must only compete with himself. “Kung titingnan ko ‘yung 20 years, parang siguro ang biggest lesson ay ang magpatuloy lang do’n sa gusto mo talagang gawing mga kanta. Kasi siyempre maraming kailangan i-consider minsan, pero kung gano’n kasi, baka hindi ka na makakasulat,” he says.

Gloc-9 is not one to plan on writing a hit song, which makes each and every hit song a welcome surprise. What might be most interesting though is that the songs that have become hits are the ones that speak of very distinct issues of nation: LGBT rights, OFWs, poverty, prostitution, corruption.

This might explain why Gloc-9 hasn’t found the need to follow fads or go for what’s trending in music. He is also not one to deny his age, in fact he finds comfort in it. “Parang mapapaisip ka rin na kung dalawang dekada ka na rito sa business na ‘to, then nadaanan mo na rin siguro ‘yung dinadaanan ngayon ng mga mas batang rapper,” he smiles. “Hindi ko na kailangang makipagsabayan sa kanila, time nila ito.”

Besides, there is enough space for everybody, and Gloc-9 is of the belief that the more rappers there are doing different things, then the better for original Pilipino music and its fans. His focus remains the same as 20 years ago when he himself was a young un-discovered rapper: to make songs that he is proud of, and hopefully put together an album.

On his 20th year of course, a new album is what Gloc-9 does have, and he couldn’t be happier. “Yung Rotonda is an EP na sobrang natuwa ako sa bawat kanta, kasi dumating sa’kin paisa-isa, and parang nung nabuo ko ‘yung lima, sakto siya do’n sa gusto kong i-discuss na mga bagay na hindi ko pa napagusapan sa ibang album.”

ROTONDA is Gloc-9’s ninth studio album, and his third with Universal Records. AVAILABLE NOW in CD and Digital formats.

Catch Gloc-9 perform live on November 4 (Saturday), 7 pm at Eastwood Central Plaza for his Rotonda EP Launch. Get a FREE Gloc-9 Rotonda T-Shirt for every CD purchase. First come, first served!

David Archuleta's undying love for Pinoy Archies, comeback concert at the Kia Theatre

After six long years of waiting, David Archuleta finally came back to Manila! The "Crush" singer-songwriter visited Manila again after taking a long break with music and touring. #DALIM4 (David Archuleta Live in Manila #4) happened last October 20th at the Kia Theatre.

The singer took a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and took a few more years to know himself better and produce music.

David Archuleta arrived in Manila on October 16th and spent an entire week in Manila promoting the said concert. The singer guested at different radio & TV programs as well as filmed interviews for different online blogs. A press conference was also held at Marco Polo in Ortigas for the media.

The show was opened by Universal Records singer-actress and also MYX VJ Tippy Dos Santos. The lovely singer performed cover songs like "Torn", "Million Reasons" and "Torete". She also performed her smash hit from P-Pop Love Songs "Dati". Later on the show, she joined David to perform "Forevermore".

The concert was mixture of different emotions for both Pinoy Archies & David himself. Archie performed a couple of his new songs from his latest album "Postcards In The Sky" which was released on the same day as well as old songs that definitely brought nostalgia all over the Kia Theatre. The singer opened his show with one of his latest songs "Up All Night"- wherein the singer adorably busted moves, followed by the 2010 hit "Something 'Bout Love", and "Numb". He performed his latest song "Invincible"- an inspiring and uplifting new track followed by "I'm Ready". The singer told the crowd that in every show from now on, he would perform a Disney song and so he performed "He Lives In Me" from The Lion King.

Nostalgia hit the crowd so hard when David Archuleta added "My Kind Of Perfect" on the set-list during the show. Moreover, David also performed "Parachutes and Airplanes". Both from his sophomore album "The Other Side of Down". David performed the OPM hits "Forevermore" and "Rainbow" The singer made sure the energy inside the theatre doesn't tone down, he covered Imagine Dragon's "Thunder" and Swedish House Mafia's "Don't You Worry Child".

Pinoy Archies saw David become all weak and in all tears as he performed the theme song of his mini TV series set in the Philippines, "Nandito Ako". Halfway the song, the singer's voice keeps cracking and being his humble self, David apologized for being emotional.

The singer performed all of his hits from before including "Elevator", "Touch My Hand" and "A Little Too Not Over You". The show ended with his first hit "Crush". David thanked Pinoy Archies for still being there for him even after six years. We saw how humble and genuine his love for Filipinos is. It's heartwarming to see a singer reconnect to fans he last saw years ago- and see how strong their bond is just because of music.

MCJ wants to thank Ovation Productions for the opportunity.
