GRAMMY Award-winning multi-platinum singer/songwriter DAYA
unveils the music video for her latest hit “Insomnia” via Interscope records. The video throws viewers into rave culture with an epic party; but
while everyone is dancing in the club, Daya is alone in a darkly-lit room,
unable to join the party as her thoughts stay focused singularly on missing the
one she loves. The video, directed by Nick Harwood, can be seen today in iconic
Times Square in New York City with the support of MTV. Watch the video here to
get lost in the party and emotions of “Insomnia.”
“‘Insomnia’ at its core is a gritty club-pop anthem about
missing the person you love, so it felt appropriate to take the visuals in a
rave direction in a grimy abandoned warehouse that feels like something you’d
stumble into at 3am in Berlin to temporarily neglect whatever pain you’re
feeling,” Daya says of the track’s stunning visual. “Nick Harwood took this
vision and perfectly brought it to life by adding intense strobe lighting and
other atmospheric elements to capture these flickering moments of desperation
and loneliness, even amidst a seemingly lively, crowded setting.”
“Insomnia” – available everywhere now – has been added to
Spotify’s #1 playlist globally, Today’s Top Hits (22.8M Followers)! Daya has
moved up to the #1 slot on Pop Rising (1.5M Followers) this week. “Insomnia”
has also been added to The A-List: Pop on Apple, which is currently the 2nd
most popular Pop playlist on Apple, and the 6th most popular playlist overall.
The single has garnered praise from numerous press outlets such as Billboard,
PAPER Magazine, & Idolator. Idolator names the song “her catchiest single
to date” and describes it as an “explosive electro-pop anthem.” Billboard calls
the track a “shuddering pop production.”
“Insomnia,” laced with a hypnotic beat behind Daya’s
trademark vocals, was written by Daya, Oscar Görres, J Kash and Michael Pollack
and produced by Görres.
