‘90s boy groups A1 and O-Town at the Mall of Asia Arena was packed to the rafters with adoring fans, who had come to feast their senses with throwback songs on an exciting Saturday night.

There’s no stopping the boyband fever as Super Awesome Productions held an intimate back-to-back concert with A1 and O-Town last November 9, Saturday, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

If you’re a major fan of the ‘90s music, then you’ll still remember the time when social media doesn’t exist, where there were no phones during the concert, no live tweets -- just solid fangirls and fanboys enjoying the moment and singing along to bubblegum pop songs and mellow ballads they only get to hear on the radio and cassette tapes.

But thanks to the joined effort of Super Awesome Productions and All Access Productions! They’ve produced a surreal gig for every ‘90s babies out there.

Here’s a rundown of what happened in an intimate gig last Saturday.

O-Town’s First Concert in the Philippines

This event marks as O-Town’s first ever concert in the Philippines and boy does the group delivered vocally, lyrically, and production wise. The multi-platinum selling group is composed of Erik-Michael Estrada, Trevor Penick, Jacob Underwood, and Dan Miller. The lads attempted a solo career after their hiatus, from appearing into films and dramas.

The crowd - comprised of those in their late 20s and early 30s who were in their teens – when the lads was at its peak of fame - sure did scream when the lads entered the stage with such charm and sang all their greatest hits including “Skydive,” showing off great melody and perfect harmony. They also performed "After the Light," "Right Kind of Wrong”, "We Fit Together”, and the upbeat song "Playing With Fire." Not to mention, dancing skills are still on point!

But the highlight of their set was when they crooned the crowd with "All or Nothing," where everybody at the venue perfectly sing along with the lads – and yes, including us.

A1’s Fourth Time in the Philippines (with a surprise proposal)
If you’re a huge fan of A1, you’ll know how interactive and appreciative they are to their fans. They value every street team by giving them a shout out, liking photos, reposting stories, and if you’re lucky enough -- getting a “follow back”.

Fast forward to D-Day, these lads never seem to age! The Brit group composed of Ben, Paul, Mark, and Christian seems to love going back to the Philippines and perform like it’s always the first time.

A1 delivered an exciting and lively set for their Filipino fans. They started off with “Forever in Love” followed by an uptempo and floor-filling song “Same Old Brand New You” which met the screams of adoring female fans, followed by the nostalgic songs such as “One More Try”, “Everytime”, and “Walking in the Rain” making hearts flutter throughout the night.

The quartet showed how special they are individual as a musician, from Christian’s vocals and guitar playing capability, which is nothing short of fantastic, then there’s Mark’s full-bodied crooning voice while effortlessly playing his keyboards, Paul’s dreamy voice we all missed, and lastly, Ben’s sweet voice and smooth falsettos where most fans go gaga over. While they admitted they’re not as good as O-Town when it comes to dancing, they sure did know to make a great rapport to their adoring fans.

Not to mention, the amazing visuals served that night were all thanks to the brilliant mind of Mark Read.

While some of us have watched the lads for three or more times already, A1 sure did give an element of surprise when they helped Mark - a fan named Mark Acallar – proposed to his girlfriend, Angela Cacho on stage.

After a resounding YES from Angela, the lads serenaded the newly engaged couple and performed “Heaven By Your Side.” (what an incredible moment). Lucky fans also get to join them on stage during their “Like A Rose” performance, and then ended their set with “Take On Me”.

Kudos to whole team of Super Awesome and All Access Productions for pulling off another successful Playback Music Festival. Til’ next time!
