Daryl Hall is part of the iconic and award-winning duo Daryl Hall and John Oates, whose success has spanned five decades when the duo first met up in Philadelphia in the 70’s.
Daryl Hall and John Oates’ songs have been pretty much a staple of many who grew up in the 70’s to 80’s rock and pop song era. They have topped the charts with hit songs like You Make My Dreams, Private Eyes, One On One, Say It Isn’t So, Maneater, Kiss On My List, I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do), and Out Of Touch. And who can forget their cover of “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.”
The duo’s genres range from rock and roll, soul music, and rhythm and blues have also been characteristic of Daryl Hall’s solo endeavors.
Just a bit of trivia: the chart-topping song of Paul Young, “Everytime You Go Away,” is a Daryl Hall original composition sung by Daryl Hall and John Oates in their 1980 Voices album. Paul Young’s cover version earned him the British Video of the Year Award at the 1986 Brit Awards.
To date, Daryl Hall has released five solo albums: Sacred Songs (1980), Three Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine (1986), Soul Alone (1993), Can’t Stop Dreaming (1996), and Laughing Down Crying (2011) with a retrospective compilation album titled “BeforeAfter” released April 2022.
