On a gloomy July 20, stepping out into the dreary weather felt like the perfect prelude to Munimuni’s “Alegorya” concert at the UP Theater. The decision to brave the rain and attend proved to be the right one, as the night unfolded into an unforgettable exploration of emotions.
The intimate venue, where
Munimuni’s story began, was a fitting backdrop for the night’s heartfelt
performances. The night was a testament to their growth, both as artists and
individuals, as they shared their experiences and emotions with a packed
audience.
From the very first song, it was
clear that the concert was not just about music, but about a journey through
our own emotions. The band played beloved tracks like "Dito Muna,"
"Tanikala,", "Simula," "Marilag," and their
latest, "Alegorya." Personal anecdotes and tears were shared and shed
as they go through their setlist. Each song was a story, and each story was a
reminder that it’s okay to feel and to express those feelings.
In the second part of the concert,
the members changed into white ensembles, which added to the intimate and
serene atmosphere. They performed acoustic versions of their songs
"Pagsibol" with Sofia Abrogar, "Tahanan" with Clara Benin,
"Oras" with Keiko Necesario, and "Tupa" with Barbie
Almalbis. All of which are renowned artists who are also close friends of the
band.
Throughout the evening, Munimuni’s
interactions with their Komunidad were warm and genuine, even filled with meme-able
moments (Eyyy ka muna dyan eyyy!)
The concert concluded with a
standing ovation, a testament to the deep impact of Munimuni’s music and the
heartfelt celebration of emotions they shared with their audience. Leaving the
theater, I, along with other attendees, carried with us not just memories of
songs, but a renewed understanding of the beauty in feeling and accepting every
emotion.
