“the best version I’ve heard…” Dan Gentile, VICE (for Noisey)

Fresh from a standout performance at SXSW 2019, Linying now releases a studio-recorded version of her cover of Frank Ocean's ‘Self Control’.

Initially performed live at the SXSW Music Festival 2019 in Austin, Texas, Linying's take on the Blonde album number has drawn attention from fans and critics alike.  VICE music outlet Noisey was present, and praised Linying’s performance of ‘Self Control’ after the event -  “I’ve listened to Frank Ocean’s “Self Control” a few hundred times at this point,” begins VICE music writer Dan Gentile, “but the best version I’ve heard came from Singaporean pop artist Linying, [...] fluttering between registers without any effects and earning literal gasps from the crowd.”

Linying is also in the midst of recording her follow-up to 2016's critically acclaimed debut EP, Paris 12 - more information to come. ‘Self Control’ will be available worldwide on Friday, June 21, via https://smarturl.it/LinSelfControl
