The 28-year-old actor and singer, Ahn Hyo Seop, is coming to Manila to meet his Filipino fans for his 'Here And Now' fanmeeting, part of his 2023 Asia Tour: The Present Show. This much-awaited event will take place on October 8 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

He's popularly known for his heart-fluttering chaebol role as Tae-mu in the romcom K-drama, 'Business Proposal'. In addition, he has starred in various K-dramas like the recent Netflix series 'A Time Called You', the medical drama 'Dr. Romantic', and the historical 'Lovers of the Red Sky', among many others. If you've watched any of his shows, I'm sure you've fallen in love with his mesmerizing smile, just like us!

Want to learn more about AHN HYO SEOP? We gotchu! Here are some things you must know about him:

  1. He is Paul from Toronto, Canada!

Yep, that’s the reason he speaks English so well in Abyss and Business Proposal! In fact, he holds Canadian citizenship because he was raised and lived there with his family, and he was given the name 'Paul' as his English name. He only returned to South Korea when he was 16 years old to pursue his career in the Korean entertainment industry.

Being raised thousands of miles away, he struggled to adapt to the cultural differences between the two countries. He even had a tough time correcting his Korean accent.

  1. His parents and his dream

Contrary to what you might be thinking right now, he had a very quiet and normal childhood, focused primarily on his education in Canada. That's why his parents weren't initially supportive of his decision to pursue a career in show business when he was scouted by JYP Entertainment. Nevertheless, he convinced his parents to return to South Korea so he could become a trainee.

  1. Trained with GOT7 under JYP Entertainment

Two weeks after getting scouted, he began training to become a K-pop idol alongside the members of GOT7 and TWICE! Although he didn't debut with GOT7, he formed a close bond with all the members, especially Jackson Wang, who he considers one of his best friends. He chose to pursue acting instead of being an idol once he realized his aspirations were more aligned with acting.

  1. Paul and his cat Ba-ul

Hyo Seop is a cat person, too! He has an American shorthair cat that he loves dearly (proof: his IG account is full of cat pics!). In an interview, he mentioned that whenever he's stressed or sad, he finds comfort in Ba-ul. And yes, he named his cat after his English name. Adorable!

  1. You can’t spell T(A)LENT without AHN HYO SEOP

He's an amazing actor; we already know that. But did you know that aside from singing and dancing (thanks to his idol training days), he also plays the guitar, piano, and violin! He learned how to play the violin because he was influenced by his best friend in Canada, who played the cello. He also served as a violinist in his school's orchestra. He's loved classical music since he was a child, so for him, playing the piano is as easy as a walk in the park.
