Spotify viral singer-songwriter Kurei has joined Universal Records in her contract signing with the label.

The contract signing was held at the Universal Records office in Quezon City. Present during the signing was Kurei, Universal Records General Manager Kathleen Dy Go, Operations Manager Peter Chan, and Kurei's Business Manager Darwin Hernandez.

Kharren Granada obtained her stage name Kurei inspired by a character of the same name from the anime series Flame of Rekka. A Davao native, Kurei first transferred to Manila to pursue a career in photography. This eventually allowed her to be discovered as a singer-songwriter by Soupstar Entertainment and Gracenote frontwoman Eunice Jorge who also acts as her producer.

As a testament to this promising talent in the industry, Kurei's debut single “Paasa” reached #1 on the Spotify Philippines Viral 50 chart for one week, and now has over 1,360,000+ streams on the platform. Musical influences such as Raveena, Daniel Caesar, and H.E.R. have brought her to creating chill songs along with a touch of R&B and soul.

Kurei describes her latest release "Eto Na Naman" as a song that revolves around toxic relationships: the feeling of getting hurt, feeling okay for a time, and the unending cycle that people can experience while in them. Produced by Jorge and co-written with hitmaker Hernandez, the track provides a soulful vibe and lyrics that are hard not to relate to.

The future looks bright for Kurei, and "Eto Na Naman" is only just the beginning for greater things to come now that she is in the spotlight.
