Shades of Native, the 5-piece indie folk rock feel-good band has signed with independent label Hyphen.

You’ll feel right at home with this cozy-yet-passionate group of beautiful souls—with its roots in Bukidnon, a heart for empowering the underrepresented, and an advocacy for unity in diversity.

Nana, the band’s lead female vocalist and acoustic guitarist, expresses her excitement for what’s to come. “Even though we're physically apart, I'm incredibly excited to be working with a team that's dedicated in bringing our vision to life. They really pushed for our voice to be heard, especially because now more than ever, more voices from Bukidnon need to be heard, and despite all the challenges we're facing right now, we couldn't be more grateful for the team we
have.”

Hyphen is an independent consultancy and label by indie artists, for indie artists. Headed by 20-year industry veteran Mike Constantino, Hyphen seeks to empower independent music artists and bands by taking care of their back-end work, including administrative, technical, accounting, and legal work. According to them, they administrate so artists can create.

“When we launched Hyphen last year, it was important to us to sign an artist that we all truly believed in. After discovering their artistry in Sonik and meeting the wonderful members of the band, it was clear that Shades of Native would be our first signing.” says Mike Constantino.

“We share the vision of releasing great music out to the world and that contemporary Filipino music has many different shades that need to be heard. We have been working hard amidst the pandemic for you to listen to something that will take your breath away, we cannot wait for you to
experience them.”

The band plans to release their first single entitled “Bamboo” on digital streaming platforms this September 2021.
