Mackenyu Arata Delights Filipino Fans with Personal Insights and Stylish Charm

Japanese heartthrob Mackenyu Arata, best known for his role as Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece, made his first-ever visit to the Philippines on November 20, 2023. The Mall of Asia Arena stage set the scene for the much-anticipated event, "Closer to You: Fun Fan Meet," presented by MediaKing Corp and Luxe Slim.

As the crowd erupted in screams of excitement, Mackenyu graced the stage, greeting his Filipino fans with a warm "hello" and "good evening."

The one-hour fan meet, hosted by actress Denise Laurel, promised an evening of entertainment and personal insights into the life of the charismatic actor. The event kicked off with a question-and-answer segment, where Mackenyu shared tidbits about himself, including his status as a self-confessed introvert and homebody. 

Despite his reserved nature, the Japanese star expressed genuine happiness at meeting his Filipino fans for the first time. Denise Laurel, the event's host, reassured Mackenyu that the audience would make him feel "super comfortable" throughout the program. 

This set the tone for an evening filled with laughter, surprises, and an unforgettable connection between the actor and his adoring fans. In a lighthearted moment, Mackenyu revealed his transition from being a cat person to a devoted dog lover. 

Describing his canine companion, he humorously remarked, "I fell in love with my dog but she snores like an old man. (Since I'm a light sleeper), I wake up, I call her, and I'm like, 'I hear you.'" 

Aside from his acting prowess, Mackenyu showcased his fashion sense, effortlessly pulling off a classic combination of a white shirt, black trousers, and denim Louis Vuitton trainers—a style that did not go unnoticed by the observant Denise Laurel. 

True to his multifaceted personality, Mackenyu also disclosed his passion for gaming, revealing Rainbow Six Siege as his favorite game. Whether on the go or at home, he's often seen with two phones, ready for impromptu gaming sessions with friends. 

Delving into his daily routine, the actor shared his commitment to fitness, hitting the gym six days a week despite his hectic schedule. Mackenyu emphasized his preference for cable machines, using them to enhance both flexibility and core strength. 

Expressing his desire to explore more of the Philippines, Mackenyu revealed his dream destinations—Boracay and Palawan. These picturesque locations are undoubtedly on the radar for the actor's future travels.
