Hundredth announce Southeast Asia Tour

South Carolina’s Hundredth have announced their first ever Southeast Asia Tour from Aug 16 to 19 August, taking them across 4 countries.

Just two weeks ago, Hundredth released ‘Ultrarare’ EP in celebration of the one year anniversary of ‘RARE’, their fourth full-length and the sonic rebirth that propelled the band into bold new direction and landed on Stereogum's Best Albums of 2017 list. The 7-track EP is a complete reimagining of seven ‘RARE’ tracks, expanding the band's sound even further.

‘Ultrarare’ takes the melodies of ‘RARE’ and removes any semblance of aggression, leaving the layers of reverb and adding warm synth textures and a dream pop sensibility. Singer/guitarist Chadwick Johnson's ethereal voice floats above the tracks guiding the listener through yet another impressive sonic pivot. ‘Ultrarare’ EP is not only another essential listen from an ambitious band, it's proof that Hundredth aren't done evolving yet.

Johnson describes ‘Ultrarare’, saying, “The production of ‘RARE’ was very focused— It was based around big, reverby guitars and driving drums. I was listening back one day to the album and felt like some of the the songs could be reinterpreted and take on a whole new vibe. I started toying around on a couple of the songs using synths instead of guitars and the songs went to a completely different place. ‘RARE’ is a rush. ‘Ultrarare’ is the comedown.

In 2017 Hundredth was at a crossroads. The band had released three full-lengths of explosive hardcore, built a large and loyal fanbase, toured the world, and experienced more than they ever expected when they started the band in Charleston, South Carolina; but creatively they were spent. The boundaries of hardcore were beginning to feel constricting and the choice was clear: evolve or end. From that urgency, ‘RARE’ was born. Hundredth's fourth full-length is a thrilling departure that allowed the band to tap into their longtime love of classic shoegaze, post-punk, and alternative, while pushing fearlessly into new musical territory. ‘RARE’ was met with acclaim from fans and critics alike, who praised the band's risk-taking spirit and the undeniable authenticity from which their new sound was crafted.

Upcoming Southeast Asian Tour Date:
August 16th – Rossi Musik @ Jakarta, Indonesia
August 17th – Live Fact @ Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
August 18th –  TBA @ Singapore
August 19th – TBC @ Manila, Philippines

The Itchyworms unveil Di Na Muli official music video

Did you know that the song Di Na Muli was written in 2016 by long-time friends Jazz Nicolas and Wally Acolola?

They entered the said song into the 5th Philippine Popular (PhilPop) Music Festival, performed by The Itchyworms, where it won the grand prize. Now, in 2018, the song has been given new life in the official soundtrack of the hit film Sid & Aya (Not A Love Story) (Viva Films, starring Dingdong Dantes and Anne Curtis, directed by Irene Villamor)

Somewhere in between PhilPop and Sid & Aya, the Itchyworms set out to immortalize the song. The result was a visually stunning and emotional music video, directed by Paolo Abella. Help also came along in the form of the video's co-director Juno Oebanda, longtime friend of the band, and the generous indulgence of none other than the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The link to the CCP is Teddy Hilado (d. 2015), recognized as the father of lighting design in Philippine theater, who is also the uncle of Oebanda.

The song's themes of love, loss, and words left unspoken, are embodied in the elegant performances of Rosky Balahadia Hilado (Teddy's widow, formerly of the Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company) and Carissa Adea (Ballet Philippines), and in the video's sweeping visuals, all captured within the hallowed halls of the CCP. The music video seeks to serve as loving tribute to Teddy, whose influence is still felt and recognized to this day.

The Itchyworms are now proud to share what is probably the first-ever music video shot inside the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and extend heartfelt thanks to those who helped bring the music video to fruition.

For updates about The Itchyworms, you can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Lupe Fiasco returns on Cove Manila stage

LUPE FIASCO, one of hip hop’s most prominent artists, brings his lyrical stylings to Cove Manila for one night of intense partying and dropping beats on June 22nd.

With Grammy recognitions and several gold and platinum certifications, Lupe Fiasco (Wasalu Muhammad Jaco in real life) carved out a space in the hip hop and rap community as a formidable artist at a very young age.

The Chicago-based Fiasco started exploring rap in junior high school. Later, he joined a group called Da Pak which disbanded shortly after signing with Epic Record and releasing one single. Barely in his twenties, Fiasco was signed as a solo artist to Arista thanks, in part, to the vocal support of Jay-Z. Eventually, Fiasco found his way to another major label, Atlantic, where he was given the opportunity to release his first album, Food & Liquor, preceding several mixtapes, his debut single “Kick, Push”, and an appearance on Kanye West’s “Touch the Sky”.

Peaking at number 8 on the Billboard 200, Food & Liquor earned Fiasco three Grammy nominations and a win for “Daydreamin’” featuring Jill Scott for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. In 2007, his second, highly conceptualized album, The Cool was released and gained a gold certification leading to four more Grammy nominations including a platinum certification for his first Top Ten single, “Superstar”.

Fiasco’s next album, Lasers, was released by Atlantic in 2011 following a signed petition by his fans due to the long delay. The album topped three charts: Hot R&B Hip Hop Albums, Hot Rap Albums, and the Billboard 200 with hits like “The Show Must Go On” hitting the Top Ten on Hot 100, and “Out of My Head” peaking at number 40 on Hot 100 and number 11 on Hot R&B/Hip Hop.

Between 2014 and 2015, a few non-album related singles were released including Fiasco’s collaboration with Ed Sheeran called “Old School Love”; and in 2016, he issued to singles, “Pick Up the Phone” and “Made in the USA”. By February 2017, Lupe Fiasco released his album Drogas Light after a brief hiatus. Featuring appearances with artists like Ty Dolla $ign, Big K.R.I.T., and Rick Ross, Drogas Light proved to be a successful independently issued album.

Come see Lupe Fiasco as he returns to the Philippines at Cove Manila. With his unique brand of rhymes and beats, Manila is definitely going to have one lit night!

Doors open at 10:30pm. Tickets begin at Php 500.00.

For more information, visit and follow Cove Manila’s official Facebook page.

Calum Scott's Only Human tour in Manila on October 30

AEG Presents and Ovation Productions are thrilled to confirm that UK crooner Calum Scott , the man behind one of the world’s most recognizable and loved renditions of Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’ , will play his first ever Philippine show on October 30 at the Kia Theatre as part of the ‘Only Human Asia Tour’.

Scott’s heartwarming appearance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015 shot him to instant global stardom, and when he officially released his audition song ‘Dancing On My Own’ as the lead single from his debut album Only Human, it took the world by storm. The track quickly accumulated more than 6.5 million worldwide sales, reached 5x Platinum in Australia and saw the former recruitment officer from Hull nominated for the Brit Award for British Single Of The Year. Upon its release, his album resonated strongly with Australian audiences, peaking at #5 on the ARIA chart.
Only Human is the result of a long, cathartic songwriting journey. Filled with deeply personal material, Scott’s ability to transform pain into beauty is undeniable, whether he is addressing coming out to his father, unrequited longing, adolescent isolation, or the gratitude he feels toward his sister Jade, who pushed him to sing on stage for the first time and auditioned alongside him on Britain’s Got Talent .
Scott’s elegantly sculpted pop centres on his soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, exemplified in gently uplifting single ‘You Are The Reason’ aching piano ballad ‘Hotel Room’ and hit single ‘Rhythm Inside’ . The singer’s ability to consistently build on his gift for poignant, emotionally charged performances is a sure sign of the lasting impact the Englishman will continue to have on all who hear his voice. Truly an experience not to be missed.
2018 has certainly been a significant year for the 29 year old as he takes his upbeat yet deceptively anguished balladry on the road for his first headline tour across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia after having toured the UK and Europe in May.
Filipinos are in for a treat!
‘Scott’s stunningly pure voice is affecting enough in itself, but his lyrics on every one of the (album’s) tracks are vulnerable and raw.’ - Billboard
‘With Only Human , (Calum Scott) makes an impressive splash... a compelling debut album.’ - Huffington Post
‘[‘No Matter What’] left concert goers captivated as Scott’s voice radiated throughout a silent crowd. Upon finishing the song, Scott couldn’t hold his emotions back and walked to the back of the stage to dry his eyes as he received one of the biggest ovations of the night.’ – The Courier Online
Calum Scott’s Only Human Asia Tour live in Manila is presented AEG Presents and Ovation Productions. Tickets prices are P 5810, P 4760, P 3700, P 2640 and will go on sale starting June 23, 2018 through For inquiries call 911-5555 or 532-8883

Intimate performance with Andy Grammer in Manila

Andy Grammer, an American songwriter-singer, has held a live concert at Music Museum last June 7, 2018. It is evident that Andy has made a connection to the crowd during the duration of his performance by sharing his experiences and inspirations with each song he wrote.

Grammer shows off his talent in music by playing a guitar, trumpet, and piano during his performance.

Before he sang, Keep Your Head Up, Grammer shared that this song was the first song of his career. He further incorporate this song to Taylor Swift whom he has dated and once brought him on stage on a billion of people. Andy added that first date is all about figuring each other, telling secret and stuff and opening up a bit more.

He also shared the story behind his song, Spaceship. He narrated that the song is about his cute little daughter while still in his wife’s womb, the feeling of that she is almost here but she’s not in this word which he was then correlated to his mother in heaven (who died when he was 25) which he feels like his mother is just like here but was not really in this world.

Everyone in the crowd enjoyed Grammer's hits such as Fresh Eyes and Back Home. He did his rendition of Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars.

Special thanks to Wilbros Live for the opportunity.

Post Modern Jukebox set to visit Manila on September 14

Have you ever thought how Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” would have sounded if it came out in the 60’s or if Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” could make a 1950’s prom even more romantic?

The once-popular phrase may be “everything old is new again,” but for Scott Bradlee, it might read everything new is old again.

Instead of just doing covers, music arranger and pianist Scott Bradlee formed an ensemble band of throwbox minstrels called Post Modern Jukebox (PMJ) that takes modern pop hits and plays them in ragtime, vintage jazz and other retro musical styles.

“Today's hits, yesterday” was the inspiration behind Post Modern Jukebox’s unique retro-reworkings of modern pop and rock hits. The multi-talented collective reimagines contemporary pop, rock and R&B hits in the style of various yesteryears, from swing to doo-wop, ragtime to Motown – or, as Bradlee himself puts it, “pop music in a time machine.”

It’s an idea Bradlee had as far back as high school.

“When I was in high school, I was getting into really like early jazz, stuff like ragtime and New Orleans music and things like that,” Bradlee said. “You can imagine that most of my peers weren’t really into that kind of music. They didn’t play a whole lot of ragtime at school dances back then. So I wanted to be able to share this with my friends, and one thing I wound up doing since I had pretty good ears—I taught myself a lot by ear—I would just kind of pick out pop songs that they liked and turned them into ragtime or jazz and stuff.”

PMJ had its humble beginnings in the cramped basement of Bradlee’s apartment in Queens, New York, where he shot videos with a small group of college friends.

The group’s big break came after doing a jazzy cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘Thrift Shop’ which became viral, reaching over a million views in its first week and climbing to #8 on Billboard magazine’s Jazz Albums chart. Bradlee and crew then followed it up with Miley Cyrus’ ‘We Can’t Stop’ and true enough there was simply no stopping PMJ as it found its way out of Bradlee’s basement apartment and into bigger, more elaborate venues and mainstream consciousness.

Post Modern Jukebox’s choice of material ranges from the ‘80s hard rock of Guns N’ Roses to the most current hits of today and they are performed by a rotating cast of musicians, including numerous American Idol alumni, wearing the same fashion pieces as their version’s particular era or genre.

To date, they have amassed over a billion views on their YouTube channel, and they have covered artists ranging from Lady Gaga to Radiohead, Taylor Swift to  Maroon 5 and many others, giving their hits a vintage makeover like jazz, swing and ragtime.

“I take pride in putting together the right powers and personalities to create a unique and amazing experience for our fans,” Bradlee says in an interview. “We want them to escape reality and join us for the most sensational 1920s party this side of The Great Gatsby. We want them to experience what it was like to be at the New Years' Eve show that Sinatra would have hosted in the 1940s. We want them to feel the excitement of hearing the greats of Motown live and up close. Our goal is to give our audiences their favorite show again and again and still have it feel like the very first time.”

The Houston Press proclaimed, “Scott Bradlee’s project has turned into a worldwide phenomenon in quite a small amount of time, having sold out shows in more than 60 countries around the world – and rightly so.”

And as any Post Modern Jukebox fan can tell you, the experience is never the same twice, with new songs, new sounds, and new members added to the ever-growing family each time around.

Finally, Pinoy enthusiasts can now experience Pop Music in a Time Machine as Midas Productions presents Post Modern Jukebox Live in Manila at the Kia Theatre  on Friday, 14th September 2018.

7 things why you shouldn't miss Super Show 7 Manila

Are you an ELF? 19 days to go as the Kings of Hallyu Wave, Super Junior will return to the country for the nth time. If you attended SuShow 2, 3 and 5 (Super Show), you'll never miss out the chance to take a glimpse of them for a one-night show that will be held on June 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Being a ELF, I can't wait to see them again. Watched them in one of their appearance last 2015 (My bias are Siwon, Donghae and Kyuhyun.)

Here are 7 things why you shouldn't miss Super Show 7 Manila:

1. 5 years in the making after SS5 was held in the country. After its successful 2013 stint in Manila, the boys are back minus Kyuhyun and Ryeowook currently in military service; Kangin and Sungmin on hiatus. Super Show 7 is the fourth world concert tour and seventh international tour, in support of their eighth studio album, Play.

2. A lot of ELFs awaits one of the best fan services in KPop every Super Show. Wait until Siwon strip off his shirt.

3. The power of sapphire blue. ELFs unite waving the official lightstick of Super Junior.

4. You will amaze to fan projects made by PH ELF. It is the sign of their love to our beloved boys. What will it be? Can't wait to see it.

5. Trip down the memory lane with several SJ songs such as No Other, Sorry Sorry, Mr. Simple, among others. Most of their songs became the epitome of KPop scene.

6. The return of Yesung and Shindong from Super Show after his enlistment in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Also, this is a significant event for Super Junior leader, Leeteuk. It's his first Super Show in Manila after 7 years. He was absent during SS5 Manila in 2013 due to his military service. Also, his natal day falls on July 1, the day after SS7 Manila.

7. Forget being an ahjumma (auntie) for one night. Think that we're still in our 20s and enjoy our time seeing our ahjussis.

Super Show 7 in Manila is presented by Pulp Live World, Globe Telecom, Dream Maker Entertainment Limited, Label SJ and S.M. Entertainment.

ToyCon 2018: Where pop culture heroes come out and play

Two Power Rangers, a Peter Pan Fire Lord, a lycan (ie. werewolf), and a legendary comic book creator are coming to TOYCON POPLIFE FanXperience 2018 on June 8-10, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

The Philippine TOYCON, Asia’s longest-running culture convention for toys, collectibles, and various pop culture fandoms, announced the latest line up of guests for this year’s highly-anticipated event.

Leading the list is comic book industry Hall of Famer Neal Adams, whose reinvention of Batman’s look to the blue-and-gray color scheme highlights his work and influence during the 1960s and 1970s, aside from creating Batman villains Ra’s al Ghul and Man-Bat, and revitalized other titles such as Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and X-Men.

Filipino-American actor Dante Basco will get to meet his kababayan fans. He played Peter Pan’s sidekick Rufio in the 1991 movie Hook alongside Robin Williams, and is the voice actor for the fire-bender Zuko in Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, Jake Long in Disney’s American Dragon: Jake Long cartoon series, as well as various video game characters.

Two actors from the Power Rangers franchise will share the TOYCON 2018 stage. Jason David Frank played the Green Ranger and the White Ranger in the 1993-1996 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series and its other iterations over the years. Michael Copon’s breakout role was playing the Blue Ranger in last year’s Power Rangers: Time Force movie, but he was also known for his roles in the TV series One Tree Hill.

Another TOYCON 2018 guest is Kevin Grevioux, best known for his role as the lycan Raze who fought against vampires in the Underworld film series, which he also co-created and wrote the screenplay of the movie. He also appeared in films such as Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes remake, The Mask, and Steel.

American actress, fashion model and beauty queen, Kelly Hu will join Toycon, he's popularly known to play as Sorceress Cassandra in The Scorpion King movie, then Kelly played a villain in X-men 2 movie as Lady Deathstrike, the mutant with adamantium finger claws. She did voice roles for characters in Phineas and Ferb, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Green Lantern:Emerald Knight. On TV she played as Pearl on CW series The Vampire Diaries and also in Arrow tv series as China White.

According to Cholo Mallillin, Event Marketing Head for TOYCON PH, this year’s event aims to give Filipino pop culture fans a playground experience with a community that shares their common interests.

“What we want to give TOYCON fans every year is a sense of belonging to various fan communities. We bring in guests and experiences that bring fans back to why they collect toys, cosplay, read comics, or rewatch their favorite TV series or movies in the first place,” Mallillin said.

Mallillin added that more guests and attractions will be announced in the coming days and even on the opening day itself.

Among the other attractions in TOYCON 2018 is “Sikat Ka Toy!”, the Philippine’s first ever toy design contest. A Night of Feels and Great Music: Boyce Avenue with Moira Live is a Valentine's Day concert that happened in June!

Boyce Avenue with Moira Dela Torre Live was a lost Valentine's Day concert that found itself during the summer season at the start of the month of June, letting fans believe that they can feel Valentine’s Day any day. The collaboration between the members of Boyce Avenue and Moira was something fresh to the Araneta crowd as both acts share heartwarming (and sometimes even tear-jerking & heartbreaking) love songs.

We first heard Moira as the voice behind the Camp Sawi theme song "Malaya", a song about heartbreak, and it is no denying some music listeners associated the singer with the word “masakit” relating to love. Music listeners immediately made her an internet success as the said song has garnered 52 Million Spotify streams on this day.

Moira Dela Torre, award winning singer-songwriter, YouTuber and member of the acoustic group ASAP Jambayan, enchantingly opened the show with her sweet & delicate voice and her innocent wit as she speaks to the crowd. Moira shares how grateful she is to be playing at the big dome and greets the audience "Good evening, Araneta!" at the top of her lungs. Though not performing her successful and album title track "Malaya", she made sure the audience will have an "Awwwww" moment as she asks the crowd, on a sarcastic note: "masakit kasi sinaktan ka or masakit kasi ‘di mo pa sya pinapakawalan?". Throughout the singer’s set, the audience was definitely getting the feels; especially those who have experienced heartbreak— but most importantly, she prepared the audience to get in the right feels as falling in love, in general, will be the mood of the show. She performs songs off her “Malaya” album, a couple of covers, and brings out co-YouTuber AJ Rafael for "Without You", completely ambushed.
