Irish Pop-Rock Band The Script is back in Manila for the fifth time to entertain Filipino fans. Held last September 23 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, the trio - lead vocalist Danny O’Donoghue, guitarist Mark Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power electrified the crowd with lively performances from their “Greatest Hits” tour.

The Irish-Filipina singer-songwriter ANDREAH opened the night by singing her originals including So Far Away, Best Friend, Let Me Go Easy, and many more.

Afterward, The Script opened their concert with a spirited performance of Superheros. The crowd’s infectious energy could be felt as the fans screamed, jumped, and danced all night, proof of the excitement that the fans felt as they yearned for the band’s return to the Philippines.

The Script has staged their first concert in Manila in 2011, followed by performances in 2013, 2015, and 2018. For 2022, just like their tour title, the Irish band performed their fan-favorite hits that have made the band a long-standing name in the industry. Made possible by Willbros Live and Midas Promotions, the band was able to once again share their love with their fans through their well-loved songs such as “For The First Time”, “Before the Worst,” and “We Cry”. They also performed their newly released single for 2022, “Dare You to Doubt Me”.

One of the highlights of the show was when lead vocalist Danny played the Bodhran (an Irish drum made of goatskin) during their song “Paint The Town Green” while going to the center aisle of the crowd.

Another memorable highlight of the show was when Danny went down from the stage and interacted with the audience as he performed an acoustic version of the song “If You Could See Me Now”. The lead vocalist dedicated the song to their late parents saying, “let us make sure that they can hear us in heaven.”

In “Nothing”, Danny challenged the audience to call their exes. A young woman took the challenge and passed her phone to the Irish vocalist, however, the call was cut. Nevertheless, the show continued as the band went on to perform more of their songs.

What made the night even more special was the love and support of the fans for the band. Fans of The Script brought their own customized lightsticks which they lit up during the acoustic performances. This was recognized by Danny, mentioning that he was happy to see them light up their lightsticks, and to hear their cheers. “This is the loudest crowd we have had without a shadow of a doubt,” Danny said.

The night ended with the band’s performance of “Hall of Fame”. Before singing, Danny dedicated the song to their fans, “It’s very rare when the band and the audience just become one. It’s the same energy. It doesn’t matter when we are in the world it’s the same energy. So I’m dedicating this song to anyone who’s going through anything right now, who needs a little bit of strength a little bit of energy. Every single one of these lights is there for you, every single one of these lights is attached to a person. We are The Script Family, Baby! There’s nothing we can’zzt overcome.”
