5 things you didn't know about the cast of Running Man; fanmeeting on April 1 at MOA Arena

How amazing it is to think that more than a decade has passed already since we begin to learn how to run. Not just a simple run but a kind of run that also taught us to run while laughing. That’s what the South Korean variety show Running Man taught us.

On April 1, 2023, at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena for the ‘A Decade of Laughter’ brought by PULP Live World, all ‘runners’ will run and laugh all together. But before that happy day, let me give you some of the things that you might not know about the members of our fav variety show, Running Man.

Did you know that before the birth ‘Song-Song’ couple or Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, it was our ‘Ace’ Song Ji Hyo who was first called half of the on-screen partner? But it was just because of their same surname.

Also, an interesting fact is still about our beloved ‘Ace’ Song Ji Hyo. Did you know that before the ‘SpartAce’ or her team-up with Kim Jong Kook Ji Hyo was once paired with Haha? And of course who would forget the ‘Monday couple’ or the on-screen love team with Kang Gary that gave us so many feelings of pure and funny kind of love for a long period of time.

Second thing you might not know about Running Man is former member Kang Gary. The name tags are the most symbolic item for Running Man, which became famous for its exciting name tag-ripping games. And it was Kang Gary who was the first ever Running Man member to rip off a name tag. It happened in episode 1 of the show and it was Lee Kwang Soo’s.

Now, we all know that former Running Man member Lee Kwang Soo was known as the ultimate betrayer, but it was Haha who was the first one to betray anyone on the show. Haha came up with the idea of "betrayal" in Running Man when he realized that Jong Kook (the only chaser on that episode), Kang Gary, Nickhun and he had running balls. If they keep it that way, everyone else will be punished and they will be kept safe. And so he struck a deal with ‘Sparta’ and asked him if he will "sell" the location of his teammates.

The next fun fact about the Running Man members is that it has been said that Yoo Jae-Suk was about $12,000 per episode and he was paid way higher than other cast members of Running Man.

Running Man members’ personalities in the show is “real” but on a more exaggerated one. The members were given personalities close to their own but were asked to exaggerate them to make the show witty.

And did you know that the first-ever Running Man tour was held in 2013 where they visited Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Singapore every year since then, Running Man members have been holding fan meetings in various parts of the Asian region and this is the first time for them to visit Manila and we Filipino runners would surely enjoy the show for they have been waiting since like forever especially after it was postponed last 2020?
