Willie Nepomuceno, Nonoy Zuñiga Headline “Music and Laughter” at the Theatre at Solaire this July

Live show aficionados will get a kick and a rush of nostalgia on July 27 8pm at the Theatre at Solaire when Grand Leisure Corporation brings Willie Nepomuceno and Nonoy Zuñiga together in “Music and Laughter.”

Two of the most formidable names in their respective fields of entertainment, the Man with the Many Faces and Voices Willie Nepomuceno and Pop icon and OPM hitmaker Nonoy Zuñiga have done shows together outside of the country but “Music and Laughter” marks the first time that Nepomuceno and Zuñiga will headline a concert together in Manila.

“Come to think of it, we've done shows together outside of Manila and we've crossed paths a number of times at the airport but with different destinations,” shares Nepomuceno who has performed before at the Eclipse Lounge also inside Solaire. “I am both excited and nervous about performing at the Theatre at Solaire.”

Zuñiga has done two previous shows at the Theatre at Solaire but with other artists. “This time I am excited to do a back-to-back show with ace impressionist, Willie Nep.”

Being the pioneer in the field of mimicry in the Philippines, Nepomuceno surprisingly finds Zuñiga, primarily a singer, “a natural humorist.” “His (Nonoy’s) songs are easily ‘singable’ that can appeal to all ages because the themes are universal. I particularly fancy his ‘I'll Never Ever Say Goodbye’ because everyone somehow passes through that sentimental episode in life, no matter how corny it may seem.”

Nepomuceno reminds us of a grand time when impressionists took their work seriously, painstakingly working on the characters they take on stage. “I really work hard at my craft, almost to perfection.”

In “Music and Laughter,” Nepomuceno showcases once more his unique brand of impressionism that has kept audiences packed in all his previous performances through a legendary career in entertainment. “My repertoire will consist of a blend of foreign celebrities and some local ones but this time, I'm veering away from the political satire which my audience has come to know me for---as a timely respite from the irritable summer heat of the season as well.”

Zuñiga welcomes the collaboration with Nepomuceno because he has always been a big fan of the latter. “Willie Nep is very professional in his ways and makes you feel at home performing with him. His impressions of Presidents Marcos, Ramos, and Erap (Estrada) are inimitable.”

Zuñiga is, hands down, one of the foremost Filipino balladeers of all time with a string of unforgettable hits, among them “Never Ever Say Goodbye,” “Kumusta Ka?” “Doon Lang,” “Love Without Time,” and “Fragments of Forever.” Never the kind to rest on his laurels, Zuñiga has just released his first digital single in support of VisPop or Visayan Pop; the song is called “Pero Atik Ra,” a duet with Jolianne Salvado.

As Willie Nepomuceno himself puts it, “Music and Laughter” is a show not to be missed because it will offer “pleasant entertainment and engaging humor.” Music and laughter are a magical combination that allows us to dream, think of the good times, and hope for better tomorrows.

This show is brought to you by Grand Leisure Corporation, tickets to “Music and Laughter” are available through Ticketworld or call 891-9999

A1 Celebrates 20th Year Anniversary on October 21

The much-awaited reunion of well-loved 90s band A1 is finally happening! This time, fans will surely be thrilled as Paul Marazzi joins his original band mates Ben Adams, Mark Read, and Christian Ingebrigtsen for the British-Norwegian band’s 20th Anniversary “Reunion” Tour 2018. The band is scheduled to hold a concert on the 21st of October 2018 at Kia Theatre, Araneta Center, Quezon City.

Ben, Mark, and Christian expressed their excitement on having Paul back on stage with them:

“We're unbelievably excited that Paul will be joining us again and bringing the original line up of A1 together for the very first time in nearly 15 years, as we approach the 20th Anniversary of when we released our 1st single & album Here we Come. There was always an amazing dynamic and energy when the four of us performed together. So what better place to bring that magic back than to the part of the world that has always embraced us with such incredible love and support, South East Asia, more specifically, the Philippines, Indonesia & Singapore. We absolutely cannot wait to see our friends and fans over there once againand bring them a show that will remind us of all the great times we had together. It will surely be a show to remember and not to be missed.”

Paul, who left the band in 2002 due to personal reasons, likewise conveyed his thoughts on the reunion tour. He said, “This time 20 years ago i was just starting out on an amazing journey that would take me to all four corners of the earth. I was lucky enough to see some amazing places and meet some very kind and wonderful people too. I can’t think of anywhere better to continue this journey once again than to South East Asia and what better company than my old friends Mark, Ben and Christian. I have so many fond memories of my time there and feel so privileged to be able to visit once again. See you all soon.”

A1 had their first breakthrough in the UK in 1999 with a collection of hit singles from their debut album. They went on to have international Top 10 and number 1 hits like Caught in The Middle, Same Old Brand New You, their cover of the A-Ha classic Take On Me, Everytime, and Heaven by Your Side.

The band also achieved huge success in the UK, Europe and across Asia, including a Brit Award for ‘Best British Breakthrough Act’ in 2001. A1 has accumulated over 10 million record sales worldwide.

Originally a quartet, A1 enjoyed success from late 90s to early 2000s. The band has formed a bond that they decided to get together seven years after their split and represent Norway for “2010 Eurovision Song Contest” with Don’t Wanna Lose You Again.

In February 2012, A1 performed with Blue and Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees in “The Greatest Hits Tour,” which took them to Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia. They loved their two-week stay and charity work here that they held a benefit show in November for the underprivileged kids of Cebu.

The following year, A1 appeared in the TV documentary The Big Reunion along with Blue, Five, Damage, 3T, 911, Girl Thing, and 5th Story, and went on a UK tour. The boys also worked on their album and released “Waiting for Daylight” and “Rediscovered” in UK in June 2015.

A1 fell in love with the Philippines and a two-night comeback concert in Manila and Cebu was held in October 2016.

Ice Seguerra releases new single, Anghel Sa Lupa

Multi-platinum recording artist Ice Seguerra (artist formerly known as artist Aiza Seguerra) is back with "Anghel Sa Lupa," his first single after the release of Gold certified album "Araw Gabi: Mga Awit ni Maestro Ryan" in 2015.

Ice rose to prominence being a former child star, appearing in over thirty films since his debut in Vic Sotto's Okey Ka Fairy Ko. From there, he has become one of the country's most respected singer-songwriters, with hits such as 'Pagdating Ng Panahon" and "Pakisabi Na Lang," among many others.

Known for his more "hugot" and melodramatic songs, Ice changes pace with this new single, a fresh acoustic tune that perfectly encapsulates the inexplicable feeling of being in love with someone. Though it gives more of a light-hearted feel than his previous songs, Ice still manages to deliver his signature vocals prominent in his well-loved body of work.

The feel-good song will be a pleasant surprise for those yearning to hear more from the certified hitmaker, and will once again capture the hearts of many, including a younger audience. “Anghel Sa Lupa” is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer and Amazon.

Ice will return with more singles, and a full-length album to be released sometime in 2018 under Universal Records.

WHY DON'T WE set to visit Manila for The Invitation Tour on August 26

You are cordially invited to “The Invitation Tour”. Atlantic recording group – WHY DON’T WE, are excited to be coming to MANILA for the first time and will be bringing their headline tour on August 26, 2018 at the Samsung Hall.

“The Invitation Tour” celebrates Why Don’t We’s latest EP, “INVITATION” – available now on all digital music retailers and streaming devices. The group has also unveiled the much anticipated companion video for their latest hit single, “Trust Fund Baby”. The video – shot by MTV VMA winning director Jason Koenig (Ed Sheeran, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis) – is streaming now on the band’s massively popular YouTube channel, which now boasts over 1.5 million subscribers. Written by multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning superstar Ed Sheeran and produced by British hitmaker Steve Mac (Ed Sheeran, Liam Payne, Clean Bandit), “Trust Fund Baby” immediately shot into the Top 3 on the iTunes Overall Songs Chart upon its release earlier this month, ahead of superstar artists like Drake, Bruno Mars, and Camila Cabello, and has press raving with BuzzFeed already calling it “a smash” and Rolling Stonegushing about “the song’s catchy, booming beat.”

Why Don’t We closed out 2017 on a remarkably high note. In addition to national television appearances on NBC’s “TODAY” and the syndicated daytime show “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” the young group performed on the entire iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour, sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in pop music, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Camila Cabello at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. The group was named MTV PUSH: Artist To Watch for the month of November, while simultaneously serving as Radio Disney’s “NBT” (Next Big Thing) featured artist, joining an impressive roster of “NBT” alumni including Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Fifth Harmony and more. Likewise, a raft of noteworthy press has been rolling in as of late, including features in Rolling Stone, People, and TIME who enthused that the band’s “…star should only continue to rise in 2018.”

Amassing more than 120 million global audio streams, 2.4 million Instagram followers, and total YouTube views exceeding 145 million with over 1.5 million subscribers in just over a year, Why Don’t We is one of pop music’s biggest breakout stories. Taking an innovative and unconventional approach towards releasing new music and actively engaging their rapidly growing fanbase, the prolific young group – the quintet ranges in age from 16-19 years old - put out four EPs in under 12 months. Following their debut EP “ONLY THE BEGINNING” and followup “SOMETHING DIFFERENT” EP, it was last summer’s “WHY DON’T WE JUST” EP that first exploded, hitting #1 on iTunes’ “Pop Albums” chart, overtaking artists like Bruno Mars, Harry Styles, and Ed Sheeran. After selling out their first-ever headlining summer tour, the band put out their “INVITATION” EP – released in September to commemorate the band’s one year anniversary – which proved an even greater success, topping iTunes’ “Overall Albums” chart in six countries including the United States. The band’s most recent single “These Girls” made a top 10 debut on the iTunes Store’s “Top Pop Songs” chart late last summer, and now boasts over 13 million worldwide streams while its colorful companion visual has logged over 40 million views at YouTube alone. The band also garnered early press attention from Entertainment Weekly, Us Weekly, and Billboard who named the band in their annual “21 Under 21” ranking, as well as profile pieces on “Entertainment Tonight,” “Extra,” and “Access Hollywood.”

Catch WHY DON’T WE – Daniel Seavey, Zach Herron, Corbyn Besson, Jonah Marais, and Jack Avery – up close and person in Manila at the Samsung Hall. Tickets on-sale on Friday, May 25 via SMTickets.com or Call 470-2222.

This year’s festival is no different, but offers a little bit more. Tagaytay Art Beat 3 welcomes both the familiar kind and a different type of sound by combining genres that have been and have not been heard on the Art Beat Stage before.

“This year’s edition will be more more intimate”, says Docdef Productions founder JB Balaquit. “It will be a more familial show, focusing on the diversity of musicians scattered and hidden in the Filipino music scene.”

Set to return are Tagaytay Art Beat-erans electro-pop/rock band Autotelic, math rock trinity Tom’s Story, and soul-fusion band Farewell Fair Weather. Also joining these new acts as Art Beat rookies are Oh, Flamingo! and UBE who promise a night of sonic fun.

Watch the stage transform during the performances of kalimbatronic artist Bea Lorenzo, DJ-and-drums duo Motherbasss, and theatrical horror rock band Mr. Bones & The Boneyard Circus.

The tonal diversity in genres aims to introduce rising talents to music enthusiasts who are not Manileños and Manileñas as well, opening more doors of opportunity for these artists. Tagaytay Art Beat aims to enrich the lives of the musicians via exposure outside of the everyday Manila scene and complementing the age-old love of music with engaging visual arts and the scenic nature of Tagaytay itself. The event will assuage all types of people by catering to different needs and will surely be a momentous event.
