A Cozy Thursday Night with Jeremy Zucker

During a busy Thursday in Makati, MCA Music has organized an intimate fan session with rising star Jeremy Zucker. The singer behind Spotify hit "Come Thru" gave cozy and relaxing vibes to lucky fans after having a long day in school, and after experiencing their daily struggles.

A lucky few were invited to participate in the said event through a Twitter competition held by MCA Music wherein fans were asked to share their favorite Jeremy Zucker songs. The organizers hand-picked a few superfans to experience the best intimate show with their favorite singer.

Jeremy performed a total of three songs including "Oh, Mexico", "All The Kids Are Depressed", and "Come Through". In between the songs, Jeremy chit-chatted with the fans. There was also a portion in the session where fans were able to tell Jeremy their messages of gratitude and admiration for the singer.

It was short and sweet but the highlight of the event would be the surprise plaque presentation for Jeremy's 4x platinum single "Come Thru" in the Philippines. Fans were also able to get a group picture with their favorite US singer.

Even after the singer's appearance at Karpos Live, which happened 2 nights before this secret session, Jeremy and his local label made sure to give back to the fans who made his single 4x platinum in the country. Surely, All The Kids are no longer depressed because Jeremy gave them a once in a lifetime chance wherein the fans definitely came thru.

Jung Hae In One Summer Night to remember in Manila

It is another memorable Jung Hae In’s fan meeting together with Filipino fans. The South Korean actor came back to Manila after a year to hold his second fan meeting, One Summer Night in Manila last Saturday, September 28 at New Frontier Theater.

Jung Hae In started off the event with an opening song to serenade the fans which created a loud cheer from the crowd. After that, he tried the kalamansi juice in which he really enjoyed. He told everyone that the usual kalamansi juice that he drinks is actually very sour but this one from the Philippines. He described it as sweet and sour which really loved.

“I know that it is weekend but you chose to spend time with me so I promise you that we are going to have a great time tonight”, the actor said.

Then, the fan meeting went on with the segment called “Haein’s pick” wherein Jung Hae In showed some photos of himself which he personally chose. In addition, he shared some stories behind those pictures of him.

The host asked about Jung Hae In’s secret skincare; he told us to drink plenty of water, get enough of sleep, and use a facial mask from Dewytree (it’s the name of the cosmetic brand that he promotes).

Moreover, the actor was asked how often he travels and told the fans that as much as he wanted to travel – he couldn’t do it due to his busy schedules. Obviously, he doesn’t have much time to travel. But his dream is to go on a trip together with his family.

Hae In is definitely interested in his fans. But he informed the fans that he is getting more interested and more conscious about his health because that’s what matters the most.

More to that, there was a segment called Hae In’s TMI (TMI stands for Too Much Information) where we could get to know more about the actor. Jung Hae In talked about the first meal he had in the Philippines which was steak. He even told us that he had Jollibee and his most favorite was the peach mango pie. Moreover, he has also shared the things that he does during long flights such as going through scripts, watching movies or dramas, or sleep. He also wants to get married before he gets 40.

The actor even shared his thoughts on coming back to the Philippines. He wishes to travel to Cebu or Boracay one day. He would love to go back to the country every year.

Later on, Jung Hae In played with the audience by finding out some facts about him. Three lucky fans won and got a chance to get a signed poster. Right after that, he sang the song “Where the Wind Blows”.

The highlight of the fan meeting was definitely the segment where Jung Hae In personally gave some advice to three lucky fans regarding their concern in life. The actor also had another segment called “Mission Impossible 123”. In this segment, he had to successfully finish 5 tasks in which he failed to do so. He was given to have a penalty to have a moment with the 4 lucky fans on stage.

The last part of the segment was called “Oh! Mazing”. He drew his manager’s face with his left hand and gave it to one lucky fan!

Lastly, he performed his last song for his fans and thanked everyone for attending the fan meeting. Of course, the show ended up with a high touch with Jung Hae In. Everyone must have been very happy.

Definitely it’s a one summer night to remember with Jung Hae In. Jung Hae In “One Summer Night” in Manila 2019 is brought to you by Wilbros Entertainment and FNC Entertainment.

Jung Hae In's Favorite K-Pop Group is BTS

After almost a year, K-Drama superstar Jung Hae In finally returns to Manila for a fan meet happening on September 28 at the New Frontier Theater.

Following his arrival in the country, the actor immediately prepared for a press conference with Philippine media as well as lucky fans picked through a raffle by local concert promoter, Wilbros Live.

50 fortunate ticket holders were announced to be part of the press event on Wilbros Live's social media accounts, which definitely made their ticket purchase worth the bucks. Moreover, they were given a sneak peek of what they'll experience for the full fan meeting.

During the press conference, the charismatic actor shared plenty of things about his career and stardom. He shared how he feels that there is a responsibility that comes with his fame, which is to inspire people and help people in need. When asked about his perceptions of Filipinos, he thinks that they are shy, warm, but often smile a lot.

In addition, Hae In shared that it is one of his goals, as an actor, to portray a CEO role in his future endeavors. The actor also made the audience, including the press, feel "kiligs" with his adorable smile and charismatic answers. One highlight of the short-but-sweet press conference is definitely when he shared that his favorite K-Pop group at the moment is BTS, which helps him feel calm during daily transports, and trips. He listens to the group whenever he wants to relax after a long day.

After being in the K-Drama industry for years, the actor still feels humbled to be surrounded by supporters as well as media people who would take pictures of him. It is humbling to see a very successful K-Drama actor still feel overwhelmed with support coming from people who watch his craft in acting.

There are plenty of things to expect for his fan meet, including improved singing performances, and much more surprises we're not even supposed to spill just yet; rest assured that his fans will experience the same warmth and "kiligs" with Hae In entertains them at New Frontier Theater.

Campus Golden Voice gives aspiring student singers the spotlight

There’s a huge buzz among aspiring local young singers these days as the country’s biggest inter-school singing competition—CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE—gets ready to give the grand spotlight to campus-based voice talents. A staggering P100,000 in prize money awaits the Grand Winner, along with a music recording contract that will pave the way for the lucky young talent’s dreams to become reality.

CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE is an upgraded reincarnation of the hit singing competition Voice of the Philippines (VOP) which ran from 1997 to 2002, an ambitious undertaking conceptualized by VOP’s original founders Benjie Pe Benito and Dennis Dela Cruz, in partnership with Traverse Entertainment.

Dozens of aspiring student singers will face-off in the September 21 Elimination Leg for their shot at superstardom, and you better believe that they will sing their hearts out as limited slots are available to advance to the Semi-Finals which will happen on November 9. From there, the field of competitors will be further narrowed down to the best of the best for one last showdown in the Grand Finals on December 1. All three events will take place at Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall’s Activity Center.

An excited Benjie declares, “The tremendous success that we had with Voice of the Philippines gave a lot of student singers an avenue to display their talents and pursue their passion, and we hope to give this new generation the same kind of opportunity with CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE. Few things in life are more gratifying than to be able to give young talents the opportunity to get their big break and launch successful careers centered on their passion.”

Local celebrities have likewise shared their excitement regarding CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE. Showbiz stars Kiko Matos, Don Umali, Lance Serrano, and Phoebe Walker, among others, also took time to invite people to this highly-anticipated event. VOP’s 2001 Grand Champion Loverine Fermino says, “If you’ve got the gift, then this is your chance to shine!” Then there’s VOP’s most popular alumna Rachelle Ann Go, who posted a video all the way from London inviting everyone to the event. The ecstatic Rachelle says, “Dreams do come true! Make sure you don’t miss out on the Philippines’ biggest inter-school singing competition, Campus Golden Voice!”

And it’s precisely this great advocacy of giving young singers the chance to make their dreams come true that served as motivation for Platinum Karaoke, the country’s premier karaoke system provider, to generously support CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE as a Co-Presentor. “Filipinos are very passionate singers, and there are so many talented young dreamers out there that can be developed into world-class performers, much the same way VOP served before as a springboard for Rachelle Ann Go’s career. So when the chance to support VOP’s upgraded version in CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE came up, we just knew that it was a perfect way to further our advocacy of turning these youngsters’ dreams into reality”, shares an enthusiastic John Russell Yao, Platinum Karaoke’s Head of Marketing. “The best way to realize a talented singer’s full potential is to start them young. Platinum Karaoke proudly wishes to do its part in developing the talents of superstar singing sensations of tomorrow”, he adds.

Traverse Entertainment, which is producing the event, has huge plans for the winner. On top of the cash prize and the music recording contract, concerts and even the possibility of entering the glamorous world of showbiz are also on the table. “We’re looking for the next big singing superstar, and CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE is the perfect grassroots avenue to find that talent”, says Traverse Managing Director Johnny Tana. “One of the biggest reasons why Traverse Outdoor branched out with Traverse Entertainment is to provide avenues for us to further explore opportunities to work with schools that have been the backbone of our stellar growth. And the prospect of helping launch a future superstar’s career is so exciting, as much as it is humbling and fulfilling. With everyone’s support, we hope to make CAMPUS GOLDEN VOICE an annual event”, he adds.

For talented student singers out there who wish to be part of this highly anticipated competition, you may contact Traverse Entertainment at 09279056113 or 09279234686. Traverse Entertainment is an affiliate company of Traverse Outdoor—the country’s most renowned outdoor training and outdoor teambuilding, and outdoor educational trip provider.

Austin Mahone set to return in Manila next month

Chart-topping pop R&B artist Austin Mahone is set to return to Manila live on October 22, 2019 at the New Frontier Theater. The much anticipated one-night-only show in the Philippines next month follows a series of sold-out concerts in Madrid, Osaka, Yokohama, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.

In 2011, Mahone started posting YouTube videos of himself performing song covers by artists such as Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and Jason Mraz. The viral content created an impact significant enough to land him a high-profile deal with Cash Money Records, the label home of Drake and Lil Wayne. Mahone subsequently released his first single 11:11, followed by Say Somethin’ and Say You're Just A Friend. This unblemished hit streak lead him to debut on the road as the opening act for Taylor Swift's Red Tour and headline a series of major shows for MTV's Artist To Watch. The Secret, Mahone’s first EP, soared to No. 5 on the Billboard 200, along with crowd favorites All I Ever Need and Mmm Yeah featuring Pitbull which reached No. 2 on the iTunes Chart and Top 20 on the Billboard Pop Songs Chart.

His immediate rise to pop stardom earned Austin a number of accolades, including an MTV Video Music Award, MTV Europe Music Award, iHeartRadio Music Award, Radio Disney Music Award, Teen Choice Award, and Young Hollywood Award. As of today, he has amassed a solid online following over 30 million followers strong across all social media platforms.

Then came 2016 when the young vocalist’s solo music took a sudden turn from groovy teen pop towards romantic, 90’s pop-infused R&B, seeing Austin in recent collaboration with Grammy-nominated musicians, namely Hardwell, Flo Rida, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, and Pitbull. Austin Mahone is all grown up, and so is the loyal fan base he has built over the years. There are more complex stories to be told, thus supplying his reinvention era with boundless sonic potential.

Earlier this year, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter introduced this brand-new sound with the retro track Why Don’t We penned by Charlie Puth. The instant bop easily accumulated more than 7 million streams on Spotify. In June, Austin followed it up with the fresh summer anthem Dancing With Nobody produced by Ian Kirkpatrick (Dua Lipa) and written by Sam Martin (Maroon 5) and Lindy Robbins (Demi Lovato). Austin shares, “I wanted Dancing With Nobody to be a fun, upbeat song that will make everyone feel that they just can’t help but get up and dance.” The stand-alone single has since racked up over 3 million Spotify streams, shaping 2019 to be the biggest year of his career.

Austin Mahone’s other hits include What About Love, Creatures of the Night, Send It featuring Rich Homie Quan, Shadow, Lady featuring Pitbull, Say Hi, among many others.

Austin Mahone Live in Manila 2019 is presented by Ovation Productions on its 40th Year Promoting the Biggest Names in Live Entertainment, in cooperation with TAP Edge: The Home of Live Action Sports. Ticket prices are P4,760/ 3,700/ 2,640 /1,590 available starting September 19 via www.ticketnet.com.ph and TicketNet outlets. For inquiries, call (02)911-5555 or (02)532-8883.

Gloc-9 goes indie with Dungaw

After 22 years, seven studio albums, three EPs, and two decades of iconic hits, rap icon Gloc-9 is shifting gears and going independent.

And the song “Dungaw” featuring Keiko Necesario is the best song to do it with.

image.png

Known to work with different voices and perspectives in his songs, this time around Gloc-9 speaks in the voice of an unnamed man, confused about the visits he was receiving, wondering about the moment the song captures. As the song unravels, so does the story of this man’s life, the choices he had made, the ones that led him to this point.

But the final punch is in the song’s culmination, when a final visitor allows him to ask a battery of painful questions. Why does suffering continue for many? Why are certain sins not forgiven? Why do the wealthy get away with anything? Why is there privilege, and why is there poverty?

The answers are in the mere fact that these questions are being asked.

Here, Gloc-9 reveals yet again that his power lies in his storytelling. That it is his songwriting that is his constant, and that it can only get better with age as he continues to insist not just on creative growth, but also and more importantly on speaking about the lives that we refuse to see, taking on the voices we refuse to hear.

And just as the narrative in “Dungaw” unfolds, so does Gloc-9’s new chapter as an independent rapper and songwriter.

Take a peak at “Dungaw,” and welcome Gloc-9 into the indie fold.

Luke Holland captures the beat of Filipino's hearts

World-class drummer, Luke Holland set the SM Skydome on fire last September 6 as he performed for the PH crowd once again after four long years.

Undeniably one of the best drummers out there, Luke Holland embarked his solo Asian Tour to perform and teach his techniques with the instrument. In a very intimate show, Luke showed his versatility as a musician when performed his multi-genre covers from BTS’ Fake Love to Justin Bieber’s Sorry, Blackpink’s DDU DU DDU DU to Skrillex’s Cinema.

Holland also entertained questions from the fans who attended. He stated that his first Manila visit with his former band, The Word Alive, during the 15th installment PULP Summer SLAM is one of his Top 3 favorite shows of all time. He also revealed some of his warm-up and exercises to get better in playing and told the crowd how helpful air-drumming is in mastering his craft. He is also very game answering a personal question if he has a girlfriend saying he doesn’t have one.

Finally, he left a message to aspiring drummers to believe in themselves and their craft. After the show, lucky fans were able to meet and chat with Luke.

Tiny Moving Parts making their way back in Manila next year

After their memorable first show in the Philippines in 2018, Minnesota’s Tiny Moving Parts are making their way back to Manila with fresh tunes. PULP Live World and Skesh Entertainment proudly present Tiny Moving Parts Live in Manila 2020, happening on February 9, 2020 at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA.

With the release of their brand new album breathe, Tiny Moving Parts are set to deliver another show that’s every bit the energetic set that their fans enjoy from start to finish. Newly signed by Hopeless Records, the trio (composed of brothers Matt and Billy Chevalier, along with their cousin Dylan Mattheisen) are indeed breathing new life to their music, five full-length albums into a career that’s lasted for over a decade now.
“This record covers things we’ve talked about in the past—the fear of dying, losing someone through moving away or the passing of someone—but it concentrates more on the positives, and being happy things happened instead of sad they’re taken away,” shares vocalist/guitarist Dylan Mattheisen in a press release. “It’s about finding that mindset to keep on powering through.”

breathe was written on the road, in between tours they’ve carried out in support of their previous record, Swell, which came out January 2018. Moving forward sonically and emotionally with breathe, they’ve delivered through this album the same emotionally-driven blend of math-rock, pop-punk, and emo, but not without expanding their sound.
“We’re not trying to do anything, we’re just playing music. And if they label us, they label us. It’s not like it bothers us. They’re gonna call us something,” drummer Billy Chevalier tells PULP Magazine in an exclusive interview, reflecting on how their music is described by the public. “We always want to keep it interesting and keep it different, unique,” Dylan adds. “We love sing-along parts, but we also live chaotic craziness, so it’s just trying to find a blend of what we all love about music… whatever feels right, we do it.”

With vivid flashbacks of their frenetic first Manila show in September 2018, the thought of having them back in town for an even more insane show is nothing short of exciting. “We are so freaking excited to come back to Asia!!! Last year was our first time and it was absolutely incredible. We love our fans over there and can’t wait to party again with everyone,” shares Dylan, excited to be coming back to this side of the world. Last year’s Manila gig, also powered by PULP Live World, was the biggest show of the band’s entire 2018 Asia Tour, and fans can look forward to an even bigger show when they return. If you’ve been waiting for a slight break, this show surely couldn’t have come at a better time.

Tickets go on sale at all SM Tickets outlets nationwide or via www.smtickets.com beginning September 15, 2019. Tickets are priced at P1,500 plus ticketing charges.
