Tiny Moving Parts on new single, Medicine; album out on September 13

Tiny Moving Parts is Dylan Mattheisen (guitar/vocals), Matthew Chevalier (bass/vocals), and Billy Chevalier (drums).

Hopeless Records is excited to announce the signing of Tiny Moving Parts. Today, they’ve shared “Medicine” the first single off the band’s forthcoming album breathe, out September 13th, 2019.

Speaking to the track, Dylan Mattheisen said, “‘Medicine’ is about everything around you falling apart. When people come and go in a lifetime, I try to focus on the happiness and guidance they’ve provided me instead of the sadness of them leaving.”

Mattheisen is afraid of death. That’s nothing new. In fact, it’s a fear that has flowed, in one form or another, through every album the Benson, Minnesota band has released so far. But on ‘breathe’, the band’s fifth proper full-length, it’s become more obvious and prevalent than ever. At the same time, this set of songs is designed to help quell those anxieties, both for Mattheisen and the dedicated following he and his cousins – brothers Matt and Billy Chevalier – have built up since forming the band in 2008.

“I just feel as time goes on that everything means more and more,” says Mattheisen. “So this record covers things we’ve talked about in the past – the fear of dying, losing someone through moving away or the passing of someone – but it concentrates more on the positives, and being happy things happened instead of sad they’re taken away. It’s about finding that mindset to keep on powering through.”

Written in between tours since the release of their last record, ‘Swell’, released in January 2018, breathe finds the band moving forward sonically as much as they are pushing through emotionally. Recorded with longtime collaborator Greg Lindholm, who oversaw seven songs, and established pop producer John Fields (Jimmy Eat World, Goo Goo Dolls, All Time Low), who handled the other three, breathe is full of the same emotionally-driven blend of math-rock, pop- punk and emo that they’ve made their own, but it also branches out.

‘breathe’ is more than just an album. It’s an emotional crutch. It’s moral support. It’s the friend we all need at our darkest times. It’s the sound of a band coming to terms with their own mortality, their own anxieties, their own self-doubts. And it’s a reminder that, as long as there are songs sung back as if our lives depend on them, we are never alone.

‘breathe ’ tracklisting:

1. The Midwest Sky

2. Light Bulb

3. Medicine

4. Icicles (Morning Glow)

5. Vertebrae

6. Polar Bear

7. Bloody Nose

8. Soft Spot

9. I Can’t Shake

Boyzone serenades PH fans for the last time

A thrilling trip down memory lane, courtesy of our Irish lads

After a massive success of their concert last year, Irish 90’s boyband Boyzone once again performed a one-night only show as part of their “Thank You and Goodnight Farewell” Tour at the Mall of Asia Arena last Sunday, June 23rd.

We’re halfway through the year and more concerts are yet to happen, but Boyzone’s farewell concert seemed to be one of the most memorable live shows that has happened so far…with Brian McFadden, a former Westlife member as front act. He performed Westlife hits such as “Mandy”, “World Of Our Own”, “Swear It Again”, “Flying Without Wings”, “My Love”, and “Uptown Girl.” Before ending his set, Brian shares, “Westlife became Westlife because of Boyzone. I respect you and I love you.”

There’s just something with 90’s heyday music that transports us back to that familiar feeling and comfort, and that’s what Boyzone made us felt during their 90 minute-concert last night. Their black suit and sequined suit made them even more sleek and dashing on this special evening.

“We’re gonna make you feel young again. We’re going back to 1995” Keith enthused.

A throng of delighted crowd gleefully sung every lyrics from the heart, deafening screams at Ronan’s solo, and even stirred everyone’s emotion when the lads paid a heartfelt tribute to their late brother, Stephen Gately.

Boyzone, composed of members Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Ronan Keating, and Shane Lynch crooned out all their chart-topping hits from the past and new ones with “Who We Are” “Love Is A Hurricane”, “Father and Son”, “You Needed Me” and more.

“We’ll sing songs that’ll remind you of your first kiss, first dance…” says Keating.

On the second half of the show, they went more mellow as they performed their all-time favorite hits, “Everyday I Love You”, “Words”, “No Matter What” and a unique twist in their 1995 version of “Love Me For A Reason.”

Mood went a bit of somber as the band spoke about their moments with their late brother, Stephen Gately, and then performed a very emotional tribute song titled “Dream.”

They ended their set with “Picture Of You” and Ronan’s “Life is a Rollercoaster.”

Without a doubt, BOYZONE still got it. They may not be young anymore, yes - but the way they pour their hearts out on every song, old and new - proves that they’re still the boys we’ve loved during our teenage years, and made us love them even more now. Compared to usual concert with technical and choreographed steps on a dance number, our boys literally just had fan on stage, grooved, and showed us what a real boyband concert experience is.

Thank You and Good Night is Boyband’s seventh and final studio album released in November 2018.

We’re going to miss you, guys! Please come back soon!

Kudos to All Access Productions for this memorable concert experience!

syd hartha Takes a Pro-Women Stand on new single "ayaw"

Upcoming singer-songwriter syd hartha breaks out from the mold with the release of her new single, "ayaw."

Known for her intricate folk-pop sketches and disarming vocals, the 17-year-old artist takes a step back from her confessional musings to affirm her stand against sexual harassment and abuse towards women in general.

The empowering number, which syd hartha wrote as a reminder for people to respect boundaries, delivers an inspiring message that puts into light the importance of consent. "It is undeniable that sexual harassment continues to be a prevalent issue that we face today," syd hartha points out. "I feel for the victims of catcalling and rape, and understand how hard it is to talk about their experience. As a musician who some people look up to, I know I have to use my voice in behalf of all the victims and survivors. This inspired me to write ayaw."

A well-conceived effort that embraces her newfound strength as a singer-songwriter, "ayaw" suggests lyrical confidence and maturity that's beyond her age. Production-wise, it's her most sonically adventurous release to date: an excursion to a more bluesy territory, a more organic vibe that gives her personality the spunk and edge it needs.

"ayaw" is syd hartha's third single, and her first official release under Sony Music Philippines. The song is now available on streaming and download platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes store and Deezer.

Talking more about the song, which is written and produced by fellow Universal Records artist Fern., he says "I've always wanted to do a song such as this - one that gives off an indie romantic vibe. And at the same time, I want to offer something new to my listeners, as I explore new vocal styles and with this being my first original English track."

Ain't It Lovely is certainly not a track to miss, with its romantic vibe and a sound that will resonate with today's generation.

The track is now available to stream and download on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, and Amazon Music under Universal Records.

#KWMF2019 Delivered K-Pop's Diversity

K-Pop fans definitely had the time of their lives last Sunday night when the Korean World Music Festival 2019 took place at the Mall of Asia Arena with headliners NCT 127 and Red Velvet!

Surprisingly, the show was hosted by local Korean TV host Ryan Bang who brought nothing but laughs for the audience every time he delivered his spiels. He basically introduced the artists/groups and had the chance to interview them on stage for the fans to witness. The night started off with a solo performance from Sohee, a member of Elris.

Sohee definitely brought the heat and prepared the energy for the night with her songs "Mannequin", "Spotlight", and "Hurry Up". The K-pop artist wore a red outfit that definitely served the right amount of charm and fierceness.
Kim Donghan from JBJ immediately followed with his heart-stopping performances. He definitely made fangirls scream over his visuals and breathtaking dance skills. He performed "Sunset", "Goodnight Kiss",  "Focus", "Idea", and "Ain't No Time".

The first girl group of the night was ELRIS who made MOA Arena filled with screams not only from fangirls but with fanboys this time. The girl group wore a matching blue and white outfit although Bela, a member, had to rest backstage because of a sprained ankle. However, she made sure fans of their group see her by coming out during the interview session with Ryan Bang. ELRIS served a very pure and sweet performance that made our hearts soft for their music. Their choreographies were also very in sync considering one member is not present during the performances.
NCTzens definitely made the MOA Arena into a green ocean with their NCT 127 lightsticks as the boys from the group performed on stage. NCT 127 performed "Fire Truck", "Cherry Bomb", "Simon Says", "Regular", and latest comeback single "Superhuman". It definitely was the hottest performance of the night as the boys performed their choreographies breathtakingly.
Last but definitely not the least, the girls of Red Velvet brought the house down with their performances. It was definitely the loudest part of the show in terms of screaming fans and fanchants. Filipino fans of the girls definitely made their love felt by the girls. There was even a part when fans screamed "solo con" during the interview and the girls took notice. Indeed, Reveluvs were the loudest that night. The girls performed their hits "Red Flavor", "Power Up", "Moonlight Melody", which got some fans to wear their banana outfits, "Bad Boy" and "Really Bad Boy (RBB)".
It's refreshing to see some K-Pop groups perform their music alongside other groups as attendees of this type of festivals will see how diverse K-Pop is. With the level of love and support K-Pop fans showed Sohee, Donghan, ELRIS, NCT 127, and Red Velvet, we are sure these acts will keep coming back to the country. With that being said, see you next year the KWMF2020!

Written by the band’s vocalist, Karla Lopez, the song highlights the band’s unique approach in creating music rooted from real-life experiences. The band aims to inspire and leave a mark to their listeners, thru this single.

Kahit Saglit’s music video was released last June 7 on Myx Philippines, in partnership with BMLab, Café Lupe and Asia Pacific College. The single is now available for streaming on Spotify.

Scottish synth-pop trio Chvrches set to return in Manila for their Love is Dead 2019 tour

It will be the third time that Scottish synth-pop trio Chvrches as they set to return in the country on August 13 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as part of their Love Is Dead 2019 Asia Tour.

Crafting songs with notable synths and edgy hooks, Chvrches combine their roots in Glasgow’s indie community – the group features former members of alternative rock bands with a love of chart-friendly pop. Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty made an immediate impact on the music scene in summer of 2013 with the bittersweet-yet-anthemic debut album The Bones of What You Believe, and later found ways of bringing an extra sheen to their music without sacrificing its depth.

Chvrches’ critically acclaimed third and latest album, Love Is Dead, just marked its first anniversary last May since its release, but it continues to break worldwide streaming records. The band reclaims the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts ruling both rankings for a second time.

The trio scored their No. 1 on each tally, following the chart-topping debut of preceding album Every Open Eye, which also opened at No. 1 back in 2015. Tracks Get Out, Miracle, and Graffiti concurrently reign on the Hot Rock Songs chart, which blends streaming, radio airplay, and digital sales. Love Is Dead is Chvrches’ first album to feature outside production, with Greg Kurstin (hitmaker for Adele, Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Sia, Foo Fighters) having produced a total of nine songs. When Chvrches began creating the record, they only had one definite plan. “We wanted to sound more like a live band,” recalls Iain Cook. “We’ve always felt like a rock band and all three of us have long histories in rock, so it was inevitable we’d eventually turn in that direction.

Over the past eight years, Chvrches has built a loyal fan base and landed on a handful of high-profile festival gigs with their catchy synth-pop tunes. However, the group just recently notched their biggest career milestone yet with their new Marshmello collaboration, Here With Me. The blockbuster single rose to the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, earning Chvrches their first ever entry to the Hot 100 list. It also debuted at No. 1 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales and has charted on Dance/Mix Show Airplay for three consecutive weeks.

Chvrches is more than thrilled to incorporate all their classic hits with brand new singles on this much-anticipated global tour. Indeed, the Scottish pop band is experienced at finding balance between fresh songs that are exciting to play and old favorites that the crowd demands for. Chvrches lead vocalist Lauren Mayberry says, “We go to enough shows ourselves and watch bands we like to what's a good mix. You have to be aware that yes, it's a creative process for you, but you're there because people love those songs. Just give the people what they want."

Other Chvrches hits include The Mother We Share, Gun, My Enemy, Never Say Die, Leave A Trace, Recover, among many others.

Chvrches’ Love Is Dead 2019 Asia Tour live in Manila is presented by Ovation Productions in cooperation with TAP Sports and FOXlife. Ticket prices are P5,810/ 4,760/ 3,700/ 2,640 available via Ticketnet online and TicketNet outlets. For inquiries, call (02)911-5555 or (02)532-8883.
